Ironbound Ambulance Squad

The Ironbound Ambulance Squad was formed in 1952 by a group of Ironbound residents who wanted to decrease the response time for ambulances to emergency calls in the tight and narrow streets of the Ironbound Section of Newark. The group formed the squad and purchased the ambulances. The squad receives no federal or municipal funding for its operation. Throughout the years Ironbound Ambulance squad has been a fully self-sufficient entity and has evolved into a vital public safety organization.

In the past two years alone, the squad has answered over 9,000 dispatch calls. Recently, they’ve had to work twice as hard operating with only one ambulance. In order to serve as many people as possible, the squad needs your help to obtain a second Type II ambulance.
