Ironbound Explorers Guide Earns Top Award At New Jersey Conference on Tourism
The Ironbound Explorers Guide, produced by the Ironbound Business Improvement District (IBID), won first place in the “Print Visitors Guide” category at the 2012 New Jersey Conference on Tourism at the Golden Nugget in Atlantic City. IBID Executive Director Seth A. Grossman accepted an Award for Excellence in Tourism for creative accomplishment in tourism marketing and promotion on behalf of the organization. "The IBID team has been a leader in the new arena of urban tourism in New Jersey," said Grossman.
Under Grossman’s leadership and the supervision of the IBID’s marketing director, Vince Baglivo of Baglivo Strategic Communications, the Ironbound Explorer’s Guide was designed by the Red Hot Company of Red Bank. Nearly 1 million copies of the Explorers Guide have been printed and disseminated over the past several years to promote Newark’s Ironbound District as one of the City’s and New Jersey’s, top tourism destinations.
“The Ironbound has been considered one of New Jersey’s premiere dining districts for many years, but this award helps underscore other great attributes attracting visitors from throughout the metropolitan area and beyond including International shopping and the proximity of sports and entertainment at the nearby Prudential Center, NJPAC and Red Bull Arena,” Grossman noted. “The Explorers Guide has been a valuable tool as part of our ongoing “Meet Me in the Ironbound” marketing campaign, showcasing one of Newark’s most important tourism assets.”
The IBID was one of 12 organizations honored at the event who have shown exemplary dedication to New Jersey's $38 billion tourism industry. The organizations vary in size, and many have been able to get impressive results on modest budgets. They've targeted out-of-state visitors, increased the visitor's length of stay, and drove home the message that New Jersey is a travel destination second to none. All were able to illustrate this through their nomination by firmly and reliably tracking their return on investment.
